About Us

Evig by formorgen is a young, North German company from Kiel. formorgen manufactures recyclable urns made from mushroom mycelium and natural raw materials and sells them to funeral homes, relatives, and those making pre-arrangements.

We, (starting from the left) Robert, Peer, Valessja and Niklas, want to rethink saying goodbye together with you and explore new paths in symbiosis with nature.

Starting in 2022, formorgen pursues the mission of radically rethinking materials and developing sustainable and aesthetic alternatives to conventional funeral products – with the aim of promoting ecological change in mourning culture while simultaneously enabling emotional closeness and dignity in saying goodbye.

Who we are

We are formorgen – a young team from Schleswig-Holstein, born out of a very personal experience. During our own time of loss, we realized that the existing range of urns often doesn't reflect what many relatives desire: dignity, naturalness, and a form of remembrance that fits into the cycle of life. The selection was cold, often made of plastic, hardly sustainable, and far removed from what our fathers and we envisioned as part of a natural cycle.

Our idea arose from this gap: an urn that honors life, respects nature, and understands death as part of the cycle. An urn that is not only aesthetically pleasing and dignified, but also has a positive impact on the climate. Therefore, we developed a new material – based on mycelium, the root-like network of fungi, and hemp. In this way, we create a product that is not only sustainable, but also actively contributes to a better future.

For us, death is not taboo, but a part of life. With our urn, we want to create a new possibility: empathetic, beautifully designed, connected to nature, and in harmony with our ecosystem. So that saying goodbye becomes a little easier – and the memory lives on in a cycle.
